Copyright protection, the most important topic for a content owner, is protected by XLimage® in 3 ways:
- Remote Internet/Intranet/2,5G/3G users never has the full image but only a portion of it
- Details transmitted on the network can be compressed in JPG format, while the master copies on the server are in a non compressed format
- Images can contain a digital codex (watermark) in order to track possible illegal uses

Digital watermarking
The employed algorithm of watermarking is patented from the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of the University of Florence. Wide documentation on the research work is available at:

Watermarking can be carried out offline (brand upon read) and/or online (brand upon read or detect). Brand reading is characterized by using a password (10 letters and 8 numbers) and a 64 bit mark complying the ISO/JPG committee recommendations, directive n. 10918 parts 3 e 4.
